“What I feel I do.”
~ André Kertész
(1894-1985)
Kertesz’s series of nude distortions is one of the great bodies of surrealist photographic images and is up there in importance with equal great work in other mediums by Picasso, Henry Moore, Matisse, De Kooning - all dealing with the human form. This series is never heavy handed but filled with a sense of fun, energy and even tenderness and love for his subjects.
I highly recommend Patricia Albers insightful and brilliant new biography of Kertesz
“Everything Is Photograph: A Life of André Kertész." She brings this elusive genius alive.
