Andre was always throughout his long and productive career the poet of modern urban life no less so than in this important image from 1930. He had this modernist sense of form that seamlessly blended the shapes of architecture with human activity. Here again with so many moments of movement. A man walking, a bicyclist, a horse and carriage, a man on a motor bike. There is such a dynamic scene going on. It’s all here, angles, curves, shadows and light. Only a master could capture it all in that single moment
