#1743 - Gianni Berengo Gardin
“In Gianni Berengo Gardin we have lost an undisputed master of photography. He was a true explorer who knew how to portray humanity and nature in every corner of the earth. His gaze illuminated the history of the 20th Century.”

~ Alessandro Guiti
Italian Minister of Culture

There has been an amazing outpouring of respect and love for Gianni at his passing. For those of us born elsewhere Italy has always been an aspirational and life affirming place. Its history and culture and landscape and the warmth of its people make it one of the most special places on earth. No one gave us a window into its magic better than Gianni. He is now finally getting the acknowledgment as one of the world’s great photographers that he always deserved. When I think of Italy now I think of his eternal images. He will be sorely missed. Ciao Gianni.
