“Would you like to have an adventure now or would you like to have your tea first?”

~ J.M. Barrie
“Peter Pan”

“Long necks. The thrust of the head in a certain position. The way the fingers work. It’s all part of my painting background”

~ Lillian Bassman
(1917-2012)

It is 1950, New York City, at the elegant Essex House. Lillian, one of the all time great female fashion photographers, is working with one of her favorite all time great fashion models, Barbara Mullen who also possessed one of the most photogenic long necks in fashion history. Their collaboration on this special day produced one of the great fashion images ever. It is all so human. Yes we are all watching our figures and our sweet tooth but you know what? Today I’m going to indulge myself and celebrate just being alive. I’m not one for power breakfasts, just too early. Or power lunches, the stress to impress is just too much and they are so pretentious. But give me a great power high tea any day. I just had one today in the land that invented this civilized ritual, dear olde England. I would recommend Browns Hotel next time you would like to celebrate a special occasion, and find yourself here. Rule Britannia
