Pentti knew at a very early age that he wanted to be a photographer. His grand mother was a well respected photographer but it was at 11 years old whist visiting the celebrated travelling exhibition “The Family of Man” that he announced this fact to his father. And that is what he became and such a revered and globally important photographer to boot.
There is no one quite like him. A world wanderer and wherever he happens to go magic appears. His insight into the animalistic existence and its relationship with humanity is always sensitively shown.
His particular affinity for India and Nepal has certainly brought out the best in him, places some of his greatest images have been created .
