#1870 - Henri Cartier-Bresson
“Answers have no meanings. What matters is the question itself.”

Henri Cartier Bresson
(1908-2004)

A young couple are seated on the roof of Notre Dame. The man has his arm around the woman and before them are a group of 14 school children with the magnificent vista of Paris in front of them. I have always thought this as one of the most tender and romantic photographs in the history of photography. For some strange reason Henri made only a handful of prints of this image during his lifetime. It is rare to actually find one. Why did Henri take it ? What was the question he was asking himself he needed to resolve? Each of us will have our own answer. Mine is life is fleeting, relationships are delicate. The children are young, the lovers are young. The cycle of life is short,
live in the moment.
