“I think you are born with a conscience and so it should be your guidance system for life.”
~ Dan Budnik
(1933-2020)
Dan was one of the most underrated great photo journalists of his generation. Many of his contemporaries received great acclaim but perhaps because of his complex personality he never received the acclaim he deserved. I believed in him and supported his work as much as I could over the many years I knew him. I have always thought it exceptional.
His body of work on civil rights is unparalleled. Civil rights has become now even more than a movement for racial justice. In the surreal era in which we all live it is a “cri de coeur “ for world humanity.
