“It took a longtime to get the angle I liked but the best picture is the one I took at the climax of the action. It carries all the excitement of the children screaming “The Dragon is slain!’"
~ Alfred Eisenstaedt
(1898-1995)
One of the most beloved and sought after photograph of children in the history of photography. Eisenstaedt was one of the most positive and optimistic people I have ever met even in his later years. He was always full of energy and his charm never waned. The children here are so emotionally involved in the play that by the time the dragon was slain they were totally unaware of the photographer’s presence even though he was crouched in front of them.
