“I have to make myself happy first and then I hope that some of that will make others happy.”
~ Judy Dater
Well certainly Judy achieved her aim on this special day during one of Ansel Adams celebrated workshops he held in Yosemite. There was the perfect cast of characters headlined by the great 90 year old famous photographer, Imogen Cunningham. There was also the beautiful model, Twinka, daughter of the great painter, Wayne Thiebaud. Imogen is fully clothed in a heavy coat. Twinka is nude coming out from behind a tree like a fleeting wood spirit. They give each other that special look as if they seem to recognize something in each other, probally the essence of youth versus age. It’s primal and empathetic, but also truly magical and life affirming.
The image was first published in the 1976 issue of Life Magazine. Celebrating 200 years of the American Woman and is eternal in its appeal.
