"My way of life, my very being is based on images capable of engraving themselves indelibly in our inner soul’s eye."
~ Louis Stettner
This Veterans Day, we honor the bravery and sacrifices of those who have served. Photographer Louis Stettner, served as a combat photographer in World War II, and over his lifetime captured the human experience through his lens. From his early wartime images to what would become his lifelong dedication to documenting the “common man”, Louis's photographs exhibit deep respect for all walks of life. His image of a soldier in New York is especially poignant, embodying the humanity of those who served — something he understood personally. His work reminds us of the power of photography to deliver dignity and empathy to our fellow human beings.
