#898 - Brett Weston

“The camera for an artist is just another tool. It is no more mechanical than a violin if you analyze it. Beyond the rudiments, it is up to the artist to create art, not the camera.”

~ Brett Weston
(1911-1993)

Point Lobos has inspired many artists including Brett Weston. Originally known to indigenous people as "Isxhenta," Point Lobos was considered a sacred place to be cherished and nourished. This incredible image of twisting tree limbs echoes that feeling of spirituality and respect of nature's power. If you find yourself in Santa Monica, stop by the gallery to see this and other inspiring works as part of our "A Beautiful World: The Power of Nature" exhibition. The exhibition will be on view through April 1st.
