"He is a magician with the camera, the camera being his magic eye."

~David Blochwitz

René Groebli is a natural storyteller. In the beginning of his creative endeavors, he had his sights set on becoming a cinematographer. But in 1949, he returned to the medium of photography as a way to have control over the entirety of his creative process. Various #307, 1946, is a dynamic Groebli photograph. At first glance, it has a minimalism to it; the pavement takes up most of the frame with Groebli's bike handle bars peaking out toward the bottom. However minimal it seems, it has a captivating and imaginative energy to it and beyond the boundaries of the frame is where the real story begins to blossom. One can imagine themselves riding into the sunset with their friends and a feeling of elation begins to emerge over you. The motion within the photograph guides us forward and reveals another story to be told.
