“Do not fear mistakes - there are none. ”

~ Miles Davis
(1926-1991)

There are very few artists who changed not only their art form but the way we see the world around us. Miles was one of those rare figures and this year marks the 100th anniversary of his birth.
One hundred years later his presence still feels completely alive. Cool. Elegant. Dangerous. Timeless.

Miles never stood still. He reinvented himself again and again, always searching for a new sound, a new feeling, a new horizon. Like all true geniuses he seemed to exist slightly ahead of the rest of us.

Photographers were naturally drawn to him. The camera loved his mystery, his intensity, his unmistakable silhouette. Looking at these images now it is extraordinary to think how contemporary they still feel. The style. The mood. The emotion. Nothing dates greatness.

We are honored to celebrate the enduring legacy of Miles Davis through these remarkable photographs.

A century later he still teaches us what it means to be truly original.
