“If you were to ask me to define a photograph in a few words, I would say it is a fossil of light and time.”

~ Daido Moriyama (b. 1938)

Daido Moriyama never sought to impose a definitive intent or fixed meaning on his images. He is a wandering explorer, driven by a deep thirst for life. When something speaks to him, he freezes it in time—even when the signal is fragmented or beyond words. His instincts are rooted purely in feeling, a true compulsion to capture.

Patterns, shapes, forms, and places gradually emerge as constellations that begin to make sense to him, eventually finding their way into books or pairings. He is a master collector of experience, building an infinite archive from the flow of life.

Daido Moriyama: The Hunter brings together a selection of works that reflect this lifelong approach—restless, searching, and pulsing with life. It will be on view at the gallery from June 6th - September 5th, 2026.
