“It is salutary to contemplate the landscapes of Giovanni Bellini, Hokusai, Poussin, Corot, Cezanne, Bonnard and so many others, and to go out into nature yourself, pencil in hand.~Henri Cartier Bresson Henri was not primarily known as a landscape photographer but he brought his deep knowledge of art history to his work in this arena.If any of you are fortunate to find yourself in Paris this Summer I urge you to visit the Fondation Cartier-Bresson to view the current exhibition there “L’experience du passage” an exhibition he was working on at the time of his passing which finally has been realized. As the curator Agnes Sire says,“Henri Cartier-Bresson implicitly unveils the self portrait of an artist in the process of questioning his relationship to the world”I came across this rare Bresson image in his archive, an image I had never seen before. I was just transported by it as I am sure you will be too.
