A Life in Pictures

November 3, 2015 – January 30, 2016

Exhibition: Frank Sinatra and Audrey Hepburn: A Life in Pictures

Dates: November 1, 2015 - February 6, 2016

Opening: Sunday, November 1, 2015 2-6pm

Peter Fetterman Gallery is pleased to present an enthralling selection of 70 photographs celebrating the lives

and contributions of two of the world’s most iconic personalities, Frank Sinatra and Audrey Hepburn. Comprised

of original published and never-before-seen prints from the gallery’s distinguished collection, the exhibition

features works by Sid Avery, Yousuf Karsh, Douglas Kirkland, Herman Leonard, Terry O’Neill, Norman Parkinson,

and Dennis Stock among many others.

A symbol who forever epitomizes the American dream, Frank Sinatra (1915-1998) continues to have an

immeasurable influence on popular culture: music, film, art, theatre, fashion and beyond. Sinatra was a true

one-of-a-kind personality whose incredible achievements continue to inspire greatness and trendsetting in

others. From images of his impetuous early years to portraits of his solemn mastery in the recording studio to

his legendary nights spent crooning with the Rat Pack, this exhibition is a tribute to his accolades and honors

the centennial anniversary of his birthday.

George Kalinsky, Frank Sinatra, 1975

The collection likewise illustrates the life of actress and philanthropist Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993). With a

concurrent exhibition dedicated to Hepburn at The National Portrait Gallery in London, her timeless prestige

is receiving international recognition. From behind-the-scene shots on films such as Sabrina (1954), and My

Fair Lady (1964) to famous portraits of her doe-eyed beauty as a prominent style symbol, this showcase

commemorates one of Hollywood’s most successful actresses and one of the world’s greatest fashion icons.

Yousuf Karsh, Audrey Hepburn, 1956

Growing up as a child in London, Peter Fetterman’s primary escape was to the cinema, where he was entranced

by such classic films as Roman Holiday (1953), Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961), High Society (1956), and From Here

to Eternity (1953). After years of seeking out and procuring these rare prints, A Life in Pictures is Peter’s inspired

homage to two exceptional, enduring cultural figures that he, like many around the world, has spent a lifetime

experiencing.
