Carl-Johan (Caj) Bremer (Finnish, b. 1929)
Photographer Caj Bremer is one of the biggest names in post-war Finnish photojournalism. He is known especially for his black and white photo reportages. Bremer has a precise and insightful eye and an unfailing ability to control the light and composition in rapidly changing conditions. He is able to extract the essential into a seemingly simple image often characterized by a subtle sense of humor.
Bremer published his memoirs Exploits of a Blunderer in 2001. A major retrospective of his work was held at the Ateneum Art Museum, Helsinki, in 2010.
